Earn money by helping higher education students reach their full potential

How do I earn money as an educator?

As an educator, you can create bite-sized learning content as much as you want and as often as you'd like. At EdBoost, all our learning content includes a multiple-choice question. The purpose of this is to provide an interactive way for students to engage with the learning content as well as help students assess their understanding of the topic. Every time a student attempts a multiple-choice question, we keep a record of this to help us understand what learning content students are engaging with. Note that students can attempt a single multiple-choice question only once. Once your learning content (all uploaded learning content in total) has been attempted by at least 1,000 different students, you will be invited to join our Paid Educator Program. After signing up to our Paid Educator Program, you will be eligible to receive monthly payments (see below).

Our revenue-sharing model

EdBoost generates revenue through advertisements and premium subscriptions. Each month, we allocate 30% of our revenue gained from the previous month to our educators from the Paid Educator Program who, within that month, had a total of at least 100 different students attempting their multiple-choice questions. The 30% of revenue is then distributed among these educators based on the number of times that their multiple-choice questions were attempted within that month.

First, for each educator from our Paid Educator Program, we determine whether they are eligible to receive a monthly payment (i.e., for each educator, we calculate whether there were at least 100 different students who attempted their multiple-choice questions within that month regardless of when the learning content was created). This is simply to ensure that educators are continually striving to target a broad audience of students. We then calculate the total number of times a multiple-choice question has been attemped within that month. This calculation is across all eligible educators and applies to all learning content regardless of its creation date. For each eligible educator, we calculate how many of these question attempts belong to learning content created by them and then convert this into a percentage. This percentage represents the size of the educator's "slice" of the 30% of revenue. For example, if there was a total of 1,000 multiple-choice question attempts within a given month and 500 of these attempts belong to learning content created by a single educator (who's eligible for a monthly payment), then this educator would receive half (50%) of the 30% of revenue to be distributed amongst the eligible educators for that particular month.

How do I become an educator

At EdBoost, we take pride in our commitment to fostering an exceptional learning environment and we believe that high-quality educators are at the heart of this endeavor. If you are passionate about sharing your knowledge and contributing to a dynamic educational platform, we welcome you to join our community of dedicated educators.

Step 1

The first step is creating an account on EdBoost. Once you've signed in, navigate to the main menu from the navbar and select 'Become an Educator'. On this page, you'll see the signup form for becoming an educator. This signup process will ask you to provide some information about yourself, including your educational background and what field (or fields) you specialise in.

Step 2

After signing up as an educator, you can begin uploading learning content. Once there have been at least 1,000 different students who have attempted your multiple-choice questions (and therefore, you have demonstrated your commitment to providing high-quality learning content), you will be notified and invited to join our Paid Educator Program.

How often will I receive payments?

Educators who are part of our Paid Educator Program receive payments on a monthly basis. However, note that for an educator to be eligible for a monthly payment, there must have been at least 100 different students who attempted their multiple-choice questions within that month. This is to ensure that educators are continually striving to target a broad audience of students.

How will I know how much I can expect to get paid each month?

Your educator account will allow you to see the total number of students who have so far attempted your multiple-choice questions within the current month (i.e., these students have attempted at least one of your questions). This will allow you to see how you're tracking in terms of being eligible for a monthly payment. Your educator account will also allow you to see what percentage of multiple-choice question attempts made within the current month belong to learning content created by you. In basic terms, this gives you an idea of what your 'slice' of revenue is looking like at that particular point in time. However, note that we are unable to provide you with an actual monetary estimate as this depends on our monthly revenue which can change quickly, for example, due to more students choosing a premium account. Note as well that the percentage estimate shown to you is strictly an estimate and may differ from the percentage of revenue that you actually receive at the end of the month. This is because our data is constantly changing as students continue to engage with the learning content.

How does EdBoost determine which students my learning content should be presented to?

At EdBoost, the process of determining which students receive your learning content is driven by a dynamic algorithm that takes into account various factors. Our algorithm considers individual learning preferences, past engagement with similar content, and the specific topics or subjects chosen by the students. This personalized approach ensures that the learning content is presented to students who are most likely to benefit from it. We believe in tailoring the learning experience to meet the unique needs of each student, fostering a more effective and engaging educational journey.

When students choose their preferred topics, educators have the ability to categorize their content by identifying the relevant field and adding descriptive keywords. For instance, an educator uploading learning content on cognitive dissonance might categorize it under the field 'Psychology' and include keywords like 'Cognitive Psychology,' 'Cognition,' and 'Cognitive dissonance.' These keywords play a crucial role in aligning the content with the learning preferences selected by students.

How does EdBoost ensure that learning content is presented in the correct order to students considering varying difficulty levels?

EdBoost is unique to other educational platforms. Rather than students enrolling in courses that they are required to complete progressively from start to finish, students are instead prompted to add those topics that matter most to them to their "booster list". For example, a student studying Psychology might add the topic 'Behavioral Psychology' because they wish to either learn further about this topic or want to ensure they carefully revise it for an upcoming exam. If a student has added a topic to their booster list, it is assumed that they are comfortable with the level of difficulty associated with that particular topic. As students progress in their learning, they can easily add or remove topics from their booster list to accommodate for their growing level of expertise within their field.

What kind of learning content can I upload?

We ensure that educators are able to use a variety of formats for their learning content. This is to accommodate a wide range of both teaching and learning styles. Educators have the following options:

Video

Videos provide a visually effective and time-efficient method for delivering concise information. We encourage educators to aim for videos that are no longer than 3 minutes.

Image

If videos aren't your thing, you also have the option of uploading images. This includes diagrams, charts, or any visual content that you believe enhances your learning content.

Text

Share your knowledge through traditional text-based content. Write bite-sized explanations, summaries, or articles to convey information effectively.

Multiple Choice Question and Answer

Multiple choice questions provide an interactive way for students to engage with the learning content. They also provide students with an opportunity to assess their understanding of the topic as well as monitor their learning progress over time through the use of analytics. For these reasons, EdBoost educators are required to include a multiple-choice question when uploading their learning content.
